Whifbitz Time Attack Toyota Supra

Power is never enough for some people. The car, or monster,  that we are going to introduce during this feature breakes all the rules, power wise! Talk about Time “travel” Attack. Its power output? 1178bhp at 1.9bar on pump fuel and 1336bhp at 2.4bar with the aid of race fuel.

Remember that contenders in  the UK  have to use Semi-slicks and it’s a Supra we’re talking about. This means that all this insane power is channeled straight to rear wheels!
The Builder and owner of this beast is Paul Whiffins, also owner of  Garage Whifbitz. Garage Whifbitz is located in the North London area and has over 20 years of experience in the motor trade and 11 years experience in modifying Japanese performance cars. As you will see below, from their car, Whifbitz is capable up to the task for both Race and Drift cars for almost any budget and any competition level.
Let’s cut the bullshit down to a minimum and move to presentation of the car!!!The specs of the 2JZ engine are outstanding. Two things strike your eyes the first time you pop the hood: The twin scroll Bullseye Power S383 billet turbo and the Hypertune plenum, fuel rail and 90mm throttle body assembly. Inside the engine Garage Whifbitz adopts Mahle pistons, Carrillo H-beam rods and Garage Whifbitz 280 9.9mm cams with HKS vernier adjustable cam pulleys. Even the OEM belts were replaced with stronger one made by Gates Racing. The cylinder head is fully modified by Whifbitz with 1mm oversize Ferrea alloy valves, Ferrea dual valve springs with titanium retainers, Ferrea bronze valve guides and Ferrea guide seals. All this beauty is tightly held together by ARP L19 head studs. The turbo is regulated by twin Turbosmart Compgate 40mm wastegates and the combustion cycle byproducts (exhaust gasses, for the poetically challenged) find their way out  to the atmosphere thanks to a Garage Whifbitz 4″ single box exhaust system. That amount of power needs a very good cooling system. To keep the temperatures down Garage Whifbitz installed a Greddy 4 row front mount intercooler while a PWR alloy radiator takes care of the cooling system together with a twin oil cooler kit.
1336bhp need a lot of juice! The fuel system uses 4 fuel pumps: twin in tank Walbro supported by another  twin external setup. The fuel regulator is made by Aeromotive and a swirl pot avoids fuel starvation under fast sweeper turns. The Injectors are provided by Injector Dynamics and are 2000cc high impendance ones. Like an experienced orchestra conductor, a Solaris S6GP ECU keeps all the items working together like a godly symphony.  The power is transferred to the gearbox with a Carbonetic triple plate clutch and moves on to the rear wheels with an OS Giken Type X LSD.
If the task of producing that amount of power is hard, think about building a chassis that can handle it, while being capable of winning time attack races.
Moving to the handling, the coilovers are manufactured by the British pioneers of Nitron and are three-way adjustable. The TNS anti-roll bars are adjustable as are most of the suspension links from Ikyea Formula, with rose joints of course. The quality of this project is carried to the brakes as well. What goes fast must be stopped fast in the end…  The calipers are AP Racing 362mm 6 pot Pro 5000+ in the front and AP Racing 335mm 4 pot Pro 5000+ with Porterfield R4 pads . Wheels are 18″ Advan RS The interior is not negleted as well. It features a FIA approved roll cage and the dashboard is flocked and the instrument cluster is made out of carbon fibre. The monitoring of the engine and datalogging are provided by a Racepak IQ3 full datalogging dash. Moreover, there is an AEM 52mm wideband AFR gauge for both safety and tuning.
Function and form are perfectly married on the outside. All the exterior parts are chosen with two things in mind: Weight saving and aerodynamic efficiency. The Front bumper, carbon side skirts, rear skirts, carbon RD front splitter/undertray and fibreglass vented bonnet are all custom made by Whifbitz. The bootlid is made of a single layer of carbon fibre. All the glass has been removed and replaced by prespex items, and an APR GTC-300 wing is solidly bolted on the boot to increase traction and stability.  Garage Whifbitz with their Toyota Supras took the 2009 Time Attack UK championship and ended 2nd & 3rd in 2010 Club Pro RWD class.
We would like to thank Garage Whifbitz for all these sweet details and photos for our article we wish them all the best for the upcoming season.
