Ok, one thing that will be evident at the end of this feature is that I am no rotary expert, therefore I will not pretend to be such an expert, so best off to Wikipedia or the likes if you looking for a statistic filled technical report on rotary engines. Sorry it won’t be found here.

However, I do know a cool car when I see one, and Simon Connaughtons FC3s series RX7 is just that. What I love about Simon’s car and to be fair it has been a view I’ve always shared ever since I got into modifying and shooting cars; cars are bought to be used and although at times we can appreciate the clean nature of a trailer queen or show car it is not quite the same as seeing a cool road-going drift-ready car squirm sideways up speed-bumps of a Sunday afternoon.

Whenever we hear the words ‘Rocket Bunny’ you cannot help but think of Anthony ‘Scotty’ Scott’s Team Skylinepart.com SIL80, and this year its bigger and better than ever. Over the last 6 or so months, Scotty has rebuilt this world famous monster with reinforcement and weight saving in mind, almost everything is now space framed, polycarbonate, carbon fibre or fibreglass.

The car that we are going to present has a pretty long history. Its bonds with Kazama Auto Japan are very strong and are not just related to the car’s exterior. The car was purchased directly from Kazama Promode kit,and then imported to Denmark to be used as Jocks Bilimport.dk showcar until 2 years ago, when the company wanted to enter and take over the drift scene.

It was impressive just how many familiar faces I came across at the WTAC last month. Thanks to the success of the Drift Matsuri events up in Ebisu Circuit it seems half of the Australian drifting community has been to Japan's drift heaven. ORIDO’S TOYOTA 86

After seeing the video of Manabu Orido cranking his 2UR-powered D1 86 into life last week, I noticed that the D1-judge-turned-driver also announced he would be heading to Mobara for the car’s first shakedown test. As soon as I saw the post on his Facebook page I was on the phone in a second asking him if it was possible to drop by and grab some shots. In his usual friendly nature he said I’d be more than welcome to come along, and as you recall from the video I posted, that’s exactly what I did. So after having heard the beastly sound of the Lexus V8 screaming around Mobara, it’s now time to check out how the day unfolded.
